Venue information
Set in 250 acres of beautiful Hertfordshire countryside, Knebworth House has been home to the Lytton family for over 19 generations, making for an extraordinary walk through 500 years of local and British history. The red Tudor brick structure is clad in High Victorian Gothic and features an amalgamation of period styles including the Jacobean Banqueting Hall, Victorian Library and Edwardian Dining Parlour. The performance by The Lord Chamberlain’s Men takes place on the Sunken Lawn of the 28-acres of Formal Gardens, largely designed by one of Britain’s most renowned landscape designers, Sir Edwin Lutyens, who married into the Lytton family.

COVID-19 measures
We will be adhering to the most up to date government guidelines relating to outdoor theatre. Our tour is ‘See It Safely’ compliant, please click here for more information. More information regarding our Covid safety planning can be found here. We want to make your continued attendance at live theatre as safe as possible and as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

Relaxed performances
We believe that all of our performances can be considered as relaxed. The lights don’t go down (until the sun sets!), the performances take place in the open air where there is plenty of space for audience members and all are welcome. We believe that theatre should be as accessible as possible and will be happy to talk to you about how we can make it accessible for you. If you have specific questions regarding your attendance at one of our performances please do not hesitate to get in contact with us so that we can help to welcome you. Contact details are here.
