Located in the beautiful Hampshire countryside, Chawton House is an Elizabethan manor once owned by Jane Austen’s brother Edward. Known to Jane as “the Great House”, she would stroll up from her cottage, now the Jane Austen’s House Museum, and “dawdle away” many happy hours in the picturesque gardens and atmospheric setting. Now open to the public seven days a week, with a lively events programme and tearoom set in the Old Kitchen, Chawton House welcomes visitors young and old.
