Venue information
Peterborough Cathedral is one of the finest surviving Norman buildings in England, famed as the burial place of Katharine of Aragon and (briefly) Mary Queen of Scots. Nestling up to the south wall of the Cathedral are the Cloisters, once a very important place in the life of Peterborough Abbey and its monastic community. The inner walls of the Cloisters were taken down after the ravages of the Civil War but the outer ones remain. One of these is the oldest standing wall in Peterborough and a delightfully old-fashioned iron sign declares that this was the wall of the Great Cloister. In the south west corner, look out for the spectacularly carved gateway into what was once the Abbot’s lodging. With the marks of history all around you, this sheltered south-facing space is a wonderful setting for outdoor theatre.

What to bring

Our performances continue in all but the very worst weather! On very rare occasions, it will not be possible for us to complete the performance, but we will never cancel a performance before the advertised start time.

Should the performance start and then be called off by the weather, no refund can be issued however if the weather is so bad that the performance cannot even begin, a full refund will be issued.

COVID-19 measures
We will be adhering to the most up to date government guidelines relating to outdoor theatre. Our tour is ‘See It Safely’ compliant, please click here for more information. More information regarding our Covid safety planning can be found here. We want to make your continued attendance at live theatre as safe as possible and as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

Relaxed performances
We believe that all of our performances can be considered as relaxed. The lights don’t go down (until the sun sets!), the performances take place in the open air where there is plenty of space for audience members and all are welcome. We believe that theatre should be as accessible as possible and will be happy to talk to you about how we can make it accessible for you. If you have specific questions regarding your attendance at one of our performances please do not hesitate to get in contact with us so that we can help to welcome you. Contact details are here.

Other information
